Resources I Recommend

For reading

Blackwells is a UK bookshop that offers free shipping worldwide. A great alternative to Amazon.

Libro.fm is an ethical alternative to Audible that supports indie bookshops with every audiobook purchase. You can choose which bookshop to support. Mine is set to support Volume.

For reading and editing

Speechify is a wonderful text-to-speech app that uses AI voice technology to read a piece of text to you out loud. While it’s no match for a real-life audiobook narrator, it’s much better than a robot voice and can be an invaluable tool when editing. I find it incredibly helpful for picking up awkward phrasing and typos in my manuscript.

They are also disability advocates and offer a range of human-read audiobooks with read-along text.

Blurb writing

Book Blurb Magic. Jessie is a font of knowledge when it comes to book blurbs. She offers a range of services from DIY to DFY (done for you).

1:1 Blurb Audit — get feedback on an existing blurb.
Custom book blurbs — get Jessie to write a blurb for you.
Spicy Blurb Playbook — a guide specifically for romance writers.

Marketing help

Marketing by Shelby is a great place to start as a beginner or seasoned author. She has a range of courses and free content to help you find your readers and sell more books.
